Since 2000, The BlueVooDoo have played their brand of blues-rock at just about every possible venue in Western Canada and Europe.

The BlueVooDoo have received award nominations from the Toronto Maple Blues Awards in 2003 for Best New Artist and also received nominations for Most Outstanding Blues CD at the 2005 and 2007 Western Canadian Music Awards. They have been recently awarded the Best blues song for 2007 at IAC MUSIC and were nominated at the Blues Critics Awards for their Back to the Shack Album.

After Touring Europe for six weeks in 2006, The Blue Voodoo began retooling their band and spread the word they were looking to grow the group. Ted Tosoff and Rick Dalgarno, the original Voodooheads brought two new faces into the fold by adding Kelly Stodola on Percussion and Gerry Berg on Bass.

ARTISTS THE BLUE VOODOO HAVE OPENED FOR

Since the age of sixteen, Vancouver based jazz pianist and composer, Sharon Minemoto has been performing to audiences around the world. In 1997, Sharon started her own quintet made up of Canadian jazz greats Brad Turner on trumpet, Ross Taggart on tenor saxophone, Darren Radtke on bass and Bernie Arai on drums. This band performs her original compositions and has recorded four shows for CBC Radio as well as a CD released on Cellar Live Records entitled, “Side A”. The album spent eight consecutive weeks in the top 10 for the Canadian national jazz and blues charts, Chartattack. Sharon’s groups have been featured at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, The Powell Street Festival, The Hornby Island Arts Festival, Festival Vancouver, the Jazz On The Wing series in Whitehorse, YT, and at Club JZ in Shanghai, China. In addition to composing, Sharon puts her arranging talents to work on standards and pop tunes for her trio featuring bassist Paul Rushka and drummer Paul Townsend . The trio is coming out with their debut CD called “You Can See The Ocean From Here” in Spring 2008. Sharon holds her Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Performance from Capilano College in North Vancouver. While she was a student there, she was selected from applicants across North America as the pianist for the IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators) College All-Star Band. Since graduating, she has studied with pianist Geoff Keezer in 1999, and then received a Canada Arts Council grant in 2000 to study composition with Don Thompson in Toronto. In addition to her quintet and trio, Sharon has also performed in ensembles led by Alan Matheson, Cory Weeds, Fred Stride, Dee Daniels, Joani Taylor, Laura Crema, Karin Plato and Jennie Emery as well as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Phoenix Chamber Choir. In March 2006, she toured in Europe with Persian pop legend, Dariush. Recently, Sharon did some arranging and recording for the ABC TV Series, “Men In Trees”. Sharon is a faculty member in the School of Music at Vancouver Community College. She has also taught at workshops and and masterclasses at the UBC Summer Music Institute, The Shawnigan Lake Music Workshop, Capilano College, the Smithers Jazz Retreat, the Douglas College Jazz Institute and at the Shanghai International School. As an adjudicator she has worked at the Vancouver School Board Jazz Festival and at the Rotary Music Festival in Whitehorse, Yukon Territories.

The Mojo Stars, a highly original blues/rock band with roots in R&B, funk and jazz. Since forming the band has played The Media Club’s closing night as part of the International Jazz Festival, both in 2006 and 2007. In 2007 the band played the Consumer Choice Awards Ceremony. 2008 saw them headline the New Westminster Show & Shine as well as move into the world of Casinos, playing to near capacity crowds at the Starlight Casino. Yukon Slim

Brandon began playing guitar in 1985 and through hard work and experience has matured into one of the most sought after roots guitar players in the country. Brandon honed his skills at Selkirk college studying jazz guitar and composition for two years. He was the winner of the 2006
Indie Award and was nominated for a Juno Award the same year with his band The Twisters. Real Blues Magazine has him in the top 3 Blues Guitar Players in Canada. Brandon is also Juno Award winning Guitarist with his work on the CD, “Let It Loose” with Kenny Wayne in 2007.
He has played with many great artists such as Joe Louis Walker, Kenny Wayne, Zora Young, Jeff Healey, Colin Linden, Amos Garret, Big Dave Maclean, Stephen Fearing, Tom Wilson, Rusty Zinn, Lee Oskar and many more. The Yukon born bluesman has toured throughtout Europe, Scandinavia, the U.S. and Canada, and has played guitar on over 18 albums. Brandon is a prolific song writer who has over 120 original songs to his credit. His tunes have been recorded by many artist across the country. He is most recently up for a Western Canadian Music Award for ( Best Blues Recording Of The Year, 2009 ) for his release (Come Out Swingin’).
Brandon’s affinity for the rawness and spontanaiety of the blues is second to none, as anyone who has had the privilege of being in his audiences will tell you. He brings a firebrand style of guitar and killer vocals that truly has to be seen and heard to be appreciated! He is VERY much in the moment as he rips it up and we know you’ll be impressed with the sounds he coaxes and wrings out of his guitar!
