Mike Taylor grew up in Sheffield, England in an era where Reggae, Punk, Disco, Ska, Euro, Pop and Funk were all blending, meshing and new musical discoveries were occurring daily. Music quickly became Mike’s main outlet for his emotions, and at a young age Mike began learning the latest top 40 tunes on a rusty old acoustic guitar his mother bought him. Within a year of learning to play guitar, Mike had already formed the band Mahogany Show Group and toured Sheffield playing gigs around the city.
Mike moved to Regina in 1984 and now resides in Vancouver, B.C.. Mike has been working on his unique musical style his whole life and has gained experience playing an array of musical genres. From Jazz, Soul, Country, Top 40 Pop and even Rap, Mike blends together an assortment of styles creating a groovy sound that captivates the audience. Mike excels at the bass, acoustic and electric guitar and does his own vocals. He has worked with artists such as Nicol Lishka, performing with her at the last Lilith Fair concert in Edmonton. Mike also plays with the band Houndstooth Trio, and has played for the band Mary Mary.
