Sibel Thrasher

Sibel Thrasher, born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio, has performed in all 1,000 plus performances of the Arts Club Theater’s All-Time longest running production, “Ain’t Misbehavin’”, both locally and on international tours.

Along with this success, she has performed in the Arts Club stage productions of Black and Gold Revue, Black and Gold Revue 2, Blues in the Night, The Club, When the Rain Comes, and most recently, “The Little Shop of Horrors”.

Her extensive credits include recording in New York with legendary recording artist Roy Ayers, and in Canada with Long John Baldry, Linton Garner along with performing with the Platters in the U.S.A., Japan, and the Phillippines.

Sibel has travelled extensively as a high-demand Jazz and R&B singer in the cruise ship industry, from The Caribbean Cruise Lines (Splendour of the Seas) to the Princess Cruise Lines (Coral and Island Princess); on extensive Alaska and Caribbean tours.

She also headlines the group “Sibel Thrasher and The Gospel Explosion” (for which she was nomiated Gospel Singer of the Year). Gospel has been deeply rooted in her since she was nine, when she and her brothers formed the group “The Thrasher Singers”. The spirit carries on!

Ms. Thrasher is also well known, respected, and awarded for her volunteer contributions to fundraising activities in Vancouver.

Along with Sibel’s stage and musical achievements, she has been in many successful roles for movie, television, and commercial productions. Her latest role was in “Fierce People” starring Donald Sutherland and Diane Lane.

In August 2004, Sibel was inducted in the B.C. Entertainment Hall of Fame, an organization to honour British Columbians who have excelled in their chosen field throughout British Columbia, across Canada and Internationally. Election was by her peers by a ballot of all living members. To date there have only been 156 individuals thus honoured. As a part of this honour, Sibels plaque will be mounted in the famous British Columbia Orpheum Hall of Fame and in “Starwalk” on the sidewalks of Vancouvers “Theatre Row”, for her never ending contribution to community and music.
