Soul Syndicate features the duo playing of Tom Hancock Guitar, and Dawn Pemberton on vocals. This acoustic project performs Blues, Soul, Funk and RnB classics in a fresh and intimate context and has been Staple at Capones playing to enthusiastic audiences since September 07.
Vibrant, genuine and soulful, Dawn Pemberton has deep musical roots that take her powerful voice from gospel and soul to jazz, funk and world music. She has become a staple of the Vancouver music scene and can often be found tearin’ it up as a vocalist, teacher, facilitator, choir director and hired gun for live and studio performances. Dawn has had the pleasure of opening for artists such as Ursula Rucker, Jeremy Ellis, and Zaki Ibrahim. She has also shared the stage and performed with The Campbell Brothers, The Hard Rubber Orchestra (Cantata for The King), Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir, John Boutte, Dee Daniels, Kurt Elling and Kenny Werner.
A passionate performer, Dawn crafts her music with a sense of adventure, quirkiness, and serious groove and shapes it into her own unique and dynamic package. Tight, expressive and bold, Dawn will hit you where it counts, funk you up and make you say “Go ‘head!”
